It may be hard to believe that something so asinine would make it into a research proposal, but leaked documents show that China had a plan to release coronaviruses into the wild. That means ginning up a deadly virus, spraying it all over bats, and then trying to vaccinate the bats (as if the concern here were the bats!). Human rights groups are warning that the US seems to be softening its position on China’s human rights abuses in an effort to get its cooperation on climate change.
