China Grabs Influence Over International Bodies

China has been growing its influence and power in the United Nations, World Health Organization, and other international institutions. The devastating impact of the coronavirus COVID-19 and the WHO's silence is a clear example of the danger this poses for the world. And now, another Chinese national has been appointed to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, to oversee maritime disputes, including in the South China Sea, where China has territorial disputes with all its neighbors, including Taiwan, over the 9 dash line. International bodies have been part of China's territory since ancient times. It comes as US China tensions are heating up after Mike Pompoe announced sanctions on the South China Sea, US navy in the South China Sea, and China continuing military drills in the South China Sea.
