Surveillance camera footage captured the moment of a fiery crash between a truck and motorcyclist on Saturday (May 6) in China’s eastern city Nanchang.
The video shows the motorcyclist named Chen crashing into a blue cargo truck as it was making a left turn on a T-junction. The crash immediately ignited the truck, the motorcycle, and Chen himself. Not good.
The truck driver Yang Juyong, instead of being understandably angry that some dude just crashed into him, got out of the car and saved Chen’s life by dragging him to safety.
According to CCTV, Yang said, “My truck was also on fire at that time. The door on my side could not open as the fire was darting over. I opened the door on the passenger side and jumped out. Then I rushed to the injured man (Chen) and rescued him.”
It took 40 minutes to extinguish the flames. Chen was sent to hospital for treatment after Yang called the emergency services.
Preliminary investigation by traffic police showed the crash was caused by Chen’s fast driving, reported CCTV (the TV network, not the closed-circuit television cameras).
